Blogger vs WordPress - Which Should You Use?

Blogger, a software on the internet made by Google enabling anyone to create a website free, is on of many that can let you make your own blog. It has many unique features but can it be described as the best software for making a blog or website? Is it better than word press?

Blogger is one of or the most used ways of making free blogs. As a blogger user myself, I found the user interface very easy to use, and found customizing my blog good as well: there are many ways you can change the HTML code on your blog to change little details.

However, Blogger has a competitor, word press. The main argument between which one is better that word press offers a hell of a lot more customization compared to blogger. This comes at a price though as you will have to buy word press if you want these extra customization. Intrigued by word press, I decided to give them a go and my honest opinion was I did not like it. Maybe because I was using Blogger, I didn't like the change, like going from a Windows PC to a Mac or vice versa. The UI was very complicated, with many many different options of customization. There was just too much!

I think as a new blogger, for anyone who wants to start a blog, Blogger is the way to go. It's so much more simpler, which I see as a good thing. Then if you want to make more customizations, you can do that via changing the HTML (Check out ask will online's blogger newbies series for useful tips). What more, the majority of the internet use Blogger over Word press, so there is more of an audience that can help you with any problems. Word press I feel is for the more experience users, that want to make a professional looking website. Other than that, Blogger is the way to go!

  1. I have to agree with your assessment - I started on Blogger. I'm a google fan, won't lie to you there.

I went to wordpress only because Blogger had a glitch wherein a blog I thought was important was trashed, and could not be restored.

With some experience, I've gone to Wordpress. Blogger has a better UI, for sure, and you can customize the pages well, and use any widgets you can think of.

There are free themes with wordpress, though the drawback is that until you activate the theme and re-enable some customizations, you won't really know what your site looks like. And the UI is slow. s-l-o-w.

Blogger just couldn't give me menus. That's all. I wanted categories in menus. My place has to be professional, but I want to look like a person too. Thanks for the post!

  2. Thank you for the in depth look on WordPress, I learnt a lot from your comment!
