How to Get Over Writer’s Block as a Blogger – ‘Blogger’s Block’

A bad case of writers block is one of the worst things that can happen to a blogger. It can infect anyone at any time, and will almost certainly happen eventually. Writers block can present as feeling unmotivated, uninspired, or as if you’ve just run out of ideas completely. Its a frustrating experience, to say the least, and trying to force the block aside can just make it dig in its heels. There are some easy ways to try and coax that block into de-materializing so you can get back to work.

Walk Away
If you’ve been sitting at the computer for a few hours, trying to get some kind of idea to surface in your mind and pour from your fingertips, just get up and walk away from it for a while. Go for a walk or do something else that you enjoy. Take an hour, forget about blogging, and come back later with fresh eyes.

Do Something Brainless
Play a video game, wash the dishes, or go take a long shower anything that doesnt require you to think. When consciously trying to overcome writers block, you can get bogged down in a furious pace of thought. Calling that to a halt can give your mind the opportunity to allow something to come to the surface.

Make a List
Carry a small notebook around with you and start a list of ideas. When you think of something, you often end up forgetting before you can get in a place to write it down or type it up. If you keep a notebook on you, you can write those thoughts down right away and look back at them later, when you need them the most.

Get a Routine in Place
Find a routine that you can enjoy and relax with before you begin blogging. Many writers, whether they write a blog, fiction, news articles, or something else, have a ritual that they follow before sitting down to write. If you dont have time for a full routine change, find one thing that you can do before writing your blog post that can signal to your brain that youre about to start writing. Some suggestions:

Play with or walk your pet
Play a short game
Have a cup of coffee or tea
Take a bath or shower
Read a chapter of a book

Eat a Peppermint
It sounds like a silly solution, but the scent and flavor of peppermint has been proven to stimulate the brains neurons. This allows you to think more clearly and focus more easily on your task.

Write About It
If all else fails? Blog about your writers block. Share the trouble youre having. There are many people out there who are dealing with a seemingly immoveable block, too, and theyll appreciate thoughts from someone in a similar place.
