How to Fix the Pictures/Images in Blogger From Being Pixelated or Fuzzy

In a recent post, I describe how to stop pictures in blogger from appearing pixelated, too big/small or fuzzy. The method didn't have a 100% success rate. This method will make all your pictures in blogger crystal clear, and its surprisingly easy too!

Blogger has trouble publishing pictures in different formats. Your pictures may be blurry because you are publishing pictures with different formats or pictures with a format blogger does't like to deal with. After testing many different formats, I have found one format that works 100% with blogger: PNG.

If you use paint, this is an easy task. All you have to do is instead of saving your picture to whatever you want, click 'Save as' and then PNG. Your image will be saved as PNG. Then when you upload your images to blogger, you will have them looking clean and sharp.

  1. Hi, I tried this and it worked at first in the uploader, I could tell they were sharper, but when I enlarged them, they were still a little bit blurry. It wasn't as bad as before but they are still not the quality they are originally.

I use a dslr, and use photoshop, so I know my images are of good quality before I upload them.

I have only started to have this problem in the last 2 weeks. Before then all my images have been fine and I am still using the same sizes that I have always used, which used to be ok.

Please help, it is getting extremely frustrating and I do not like to post images that are not of good quality, so have not been able to post for a long while.

  2. Hi Katie,
By the way the images you posting are for the header or posts?

If changing your images to PNG didn't work, it may because of the actual size of your photos. Have a look at how wide your actual blog is. If it is let's say 900 pixels wide and your pictures are 1000 pixels wide, Blogger can be very funny and try to rescale them causing blurriness.

So try resizing them before they get uploaded to Blogger to see if that makes a difference.

    Good Luck!

  3. I am having this very same problem! Ever since they had the maintenance issue last week and went in read-only mode for a few days. What's going on? I've had a photo blog with them for over a year now. This is the first time I've noticed this.

  4. There's two options which I can think of at the top of my head from your problem. Either one, blogger is still recovering from being down and may restore your picture quality at anytime, or you may have used the maximum online storage capacity. The set number is 1GB and if you have been uploading high detail pictures for a year now, you may find that blogger will resize the images so the pictures can still be uploaded and are under the storage limit.
